Common Concerns
|
Concern: Yuk! It sounds like therapy.
Reality: Our deep personal focus is indeed penetrating (sort of like therapy). But a key difference is that our orientation is forward and action-oriented, not rear view mirror thinking and analysis that seeks to figure out what caused you do what you do. Many of our clients are relieved and delighted afterwards that they took a chance and opened themselves and their groups to the possibilities of coaching assistance.
Concern: Nah, I dont need coaching. I think I know someone else who needs it, though.
Reality: Dont be quick to assume you cant reap some very real benefits from an outside perspective as you think about yourself and your business. We are often blind to our own frailties or behavior quirks that others can see far easier .
Concern: We already have something like this in house (e.g., Company Employee Assistance Program)
Reality: In most cases, a company-provided program like EAP, focuses on obvious, critical problems and individual ills. Our coaching is positive and catalytic, and more focused on helping you seize opportunities through greater effectiveness rather than fixing ills.
Concern: Not now. Were too busy to look at this now. Were focusing on more important issues related to our business.
Reality: There never seems to be a good time to reach out for help. Therefore, many executives and organizations never do. Its an unfortunate thing when training budgets go unspent, because for so many businesses, people are their most valuable asset. Theres nothing more important to the success of your business than having engaged and effective managers and staff. Effective coaching can go a long way to renewing energy and commitment.
Concern: We already do a lot of training here for our folks.
Reality: Our brand of coaching and training is probably much different than the routine training youre now doing more personal, more penetrating, and perhaps, more effective. Let us show you how different your coaching experience can be.
Concern: Ive already done something like this about ten years ago.
Reality: That may well be. But consider how much your work, your life and your personal style has changed in ten years for better, for worse, or just for different. If some type of coaching was helpful to you in the past, its likely that it will benefit the newer you now.
Concern: Im a bit afraid of this. I dont know if I want my major weaknesses and fears revealed to myself or anyone else.
Reality: The coaching environment we provide is a safe haven in which to explore, discover and address your personal obstacles and challenges. No one is there to judge you, only to assist you in becoming more effective. Our approach to our clients is on a peer level, not a parental one.
